Insecticidal preparations are widely used to treat plants from pests that prevent crops from growing, spoil green and ripening fruits. Consider the composition and form of release of "Imidacloprid", the purpose and mechanism of its action, use according to the instructions. The toxicity of the agent, the effect on plants, insects, humans. Compatibility, storage and analogues.
Composition and release form of the drug
As part of the drug, the active substance imidacloprid (imidacloprid) from the neonicotinoid class, in an amount of 200 g per 1 liter. Produced by Bayer in the form of water-soluble granules or concentrate in packages of 1 and 5 g, in bottles of 0.4 kg. A pesticide with a systemic effect has an intestinal and contact mode of penetration.
Purpose and mechanism of action
Preparations with imidacloprid are used against pests of cereals (from bedbugs of a harmful turtle, bread beetle), Colorado potato beetle, aphids, thrips on potatoes, tomatoes, on apple trees and plums from weevils and aphids, on greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes from aphids, whitefly, thrips, on onions from a complex of pests.
Imidacloprid is absorbed by plants through roots and aerial tissues and, like other neonicotinoids, acts on the central nervous system of insects. The action is manifested in the excitation of the nervous system, which leads to paralysis and death of pests in 3-5 days. Imidacloprid has a long residual activity, so the protection period lasts 2-4 weeks.
Imidacloprid disintegrates faster under the influence of ultraviolet radiation and moisture; on the surfaces of plants treated with a solution, traces of the substance are not detected after 3-4 weeks.
Instructions for use of "Imidacloprid"
The drug is intended for spraying young and adult plants; only 1 treatment is required to destroy the pest population.
Application rate (in liters per hectare):
- tomatoes, potatoes - 0.15-0.2;
- apple tree, plum - 0.2-0.3;
- greenhouse tomatoes, cucumbers - 0.25-0.25;
- onions, garden tomatoes - 1.
Consumption - 200-400 liters per hectare. The time until the permitted collection of fruits is 20 days.
Safety in use
In terms of toxicity, Imidacloprid belongs to class 3 for humans and class 1 for bees. It is also toxic to fish and especially aquatic organisms and insects, therefore, it is impossible to use the drug near water bodies, fish breeding enterprises and water sources. Do not use bees during the summer, during the flowering of trees.
When poisoning with imidacloprid, symptoms of general intoxication appear; in order to reduce the effect on a person, when working with the product or its solution, you must wear protective clothing, put on high dense rubber gloves on your hands, a respirator and plastic glasses with side protection on your face.

Compatibility with other substances
Means with imidacloprid can be combined in a common solution with fungicides. The general use of preparations for pests and fungi helps to reduce the time for caring for plants, to make processing on time, without having to take a break.
If the compatibility of substances in preparations with imidacloprid is not known, testing should be carried out before mixing to show whether they react with each other. To do this, you need to mix a small volume of a solution of each agent in a common container and, if there are no noticeable changes in physical or chemical properties, such as an increase in temperature, a change in color, structure, then the preparations can be mixed.
Products with imidacloprid can be stored for 3 years, provided that the liquid or granules are in the factory tightly closed packaging. Preservation conditions: positive, but not high temperature, dark, dry room. Pesticides, natural and chemical fertilizers can be stored next to the product. Do not put food, animal feed, medicines and household products next to agrochemicals.
After the expiration of the shelf life, do not use the drug, do not use it if its properties have changed due to improper storage. The finished preparation diluted with water can be stored for only 1 day, so you need to prepare the solution before processing the plants and consume it all, in full.
