Actinidia "Hermaphroditic", "Gourmand", "September", "Delicatessen" and "Klara Zetkin" are among the most popular and popular varieties that are successfully cultivated in the soil and climatic conditions of our country.

To make the right choice of planting material, you should not only familiarize yourself with the description of varieties, but also obtain reliable information about planting and caring for plants. Equally important are the reviews of more experienced amateur gardeners.

Actinidia "Hermaphroditic"

The average plant height reaches three to four meters, with an annual growth of one and a half meters. The plant is characterized by decoratively painted leaves that have a very original color. In early spring, the color of the foliage is white-green. In the summer, its color changes to a pronounced pale pink color.

It should be remembered that decorativeness is manifested only in adult plants grown in sufficient light conditions. The fruits have an oval shape and a greenish-yellow surface with a fairly bright blush from the most illuminated side. Fruits are small in size, with an average weight of not more than 2.5–3 g. Maturation occurs in August. The plant enters the phase of active fruiting four years after planting seedlings in a permanent place.

Actinidia "Gourmet"

Actinidia kolomikt Lakomka is a medium-sized vine no more than seven meters high. The peculiarity of this fruit-decorative liana-like shrub is represented by the entwining of the support in a counterclockwise direction, as well as the presence of thin and smooth branches with large and relief leaves. The flowers are white in color, similar to the flowers of lily of the valley. They have a fairly strong flavor. Flowering is observed in May and lasts a little less than a month.

The fruits are cylindrical, laterally compressed, weighing no more than 5.1–5.3 g. The surface of the ripe fruit has an olive-green color with bright, longitudinally arranged stripes. The skin is relatively thin, covers the sweet and sour with the aroma of pineapple pulp. Harvesting occurs in the middle of the last summer month. The variety compares favorably with resistance to low temperature conditions and an increased content of ascorbic acid. The variety is characterized as productive and large-fruited.

Actinidia: planting and care

Actinidia "September"

It is characterized by fruits with an average weight of up to 16.5-18.5 g, green color with excellent taste and quite delicate, delicate aroma. The fruits ripen in the last decade of September. The plant begins bearing two or three years after planting fruit seedlings in a permanent place. The average yield of an adult productive plant, subject to growing technology, can be at least 10-12 kg of ripe berries.

An adult liana-like plant reaches a height of 18−20 m and belongs to the category of winter-hardy and dioecious. A distinctive feature of this variety of berry and ornamental culture is a high and stable yield, which is successfully supplemented by good indicators of unpretentiousness to growing conditions, resistance to damage by the most common diseases and pests in our country. In central Russia, young plants are recommended to be bent to the ground and insulated with peat, dry foliage or spruce branches. In the southern regions, plants are able to winter without the use of shelter.

Actinidia "Delicious"

Delicious actinidia, or Actinídia deliciósa, is the result of works on crossing Chinese actinidia. New Zealand breeders were able to significantly increase the size of the fruit and improve their taste. The height of the tree creeper can reach eight or more meters. The plant has strong stems and long petioles, on which are dark green oval-rounded leaves with a heart-shaped base. The surface of the foliage is smooth and shiny. The back has a fairly pronounced white pubescence.

The flowers are white, turn yellow over time. Plants of many varieties of this variety are not self-fertile, therefore, to obtain fruiting, it is necessary to plant bushes with male flowers. Among the most popular varieties of this species include the bisexual self-pollinated variety "Jenny", as well as the very fragrant, delicate and sweet-fruit variety Actinidia deliciosa Boskoop.

The average fruit length does not exceed 6.3-6.5 cm. They are covered with skin with hard and short hairs of a brownish color. The fruits are known to consumers under the name "kiwi" and are widely used not only in foreign countries, but also in Russia due to their excellent taste and nutritional value.

Actinidia "Clara Zetkin"

The large-fruited actinidia variety "Klara Zetkin", which was quite popular and in demand by amateur gardeners of our country, was developed as a result of continuous selection aimed at increasing large-fruited. The fourth generation of actinidia colomict resulted in the production of a variety that has excellent palatability and a low percentage of shedding of fully ripened fruits.

Perennial tree-like liana grows up to six meters in height and forms green fruits, the length of which does not exceed 2.5-3.5 cm. Under soil and climatic conditions, the variety ripens in the last decade of August. Ripe pulp is characterized as a delicate and very aromatic, sweet taste. The average yield of an adult productive plant of this variety is about 6.5-8.5 kg. The variety belongs to the category of dioecious and needs planting specimens of a male type of flowering.

Actinidia: features of cultivation

The plant is characterized by high decorativeness and forms flowers of a whitish pink color. This is the largest fruit variety and resistant to fungal infections, a variety that has proven itself in the conditions of home gardening in our country.
